Opened by MUSE group and backed by Bacardi, the Nest has been a total hit since its opening last December.
To begin with: the ambience and decor are lovely, light sandy & pastel tones convey a feeling of peace and comfort. There are some high tables and lounge sofas, plus few tables outside and stools by the bar. The music is just at the right volume, and the playlist is great.
Lulu’s Tip: Do make a reservation two days in advance minimum on weekends + Sunday & Monday (oyster deal).
The evening started off with some delicious Gillardeau Fine de Claire, French oysters. Fresh as the ocean and only rmb 98 a dozen (special price for Sunday & Monday, otherwise rmb 198 – even full priced, still a very good value for oysters in Shanghai).
We then ordered several rounds of drinks. Being backed by luxury French vodka brad Grey Goose, I thought it’d be a good idea to stick with vodka based drinks at the price of RMB 68 per glass.
The Fly Beyond is perfect for ladies with its floral aromas.
I preferred even more the Citrus Punch with its tangy, slightly bitter taste.
Loved the AMAZING Bloody French on the Beach (RMB 88), which is almost a meal with a tuna stuffed tomato, an olive, and just the right amount of spice and condiments. The best part is that it comes with an oyster on the side for just 20 RMB extra from the regular Bloody French.
Besides the oysters and the drinks we also ordered a few delicious bites.
The French beef tartare with truffle comes at the price of RMB 108. Super tasty and fresh.
The Rib Eye Wagyu (RMB 358) was definitely the highlight of the meal (ya know, oysters don’t take much effort to make right!) around 300g of melt-in-your-mouth goodness. It comes with sauces and a few sides. The sauces taste delicious but the steak is so good you don’t really need anything on it. French fries… Great! I’d have a full portion just of those.
Service: it started off oddly, with a waiter that was a bit rude but after requesting a bit of ‘limao” they fixed the problem by offering welcome drinks, which was also a way to excuse the 30 min delay on our first round of drinks.
If you want to have a full dinner with drinks you should expect to pay around RMB 500.
Definitely one of the best options for fancy bund outing. If you still haven’t been, what are you waiting for? They now also offer brunch!
